Hollabackhedgehog: the person

Beauty, which the world puts too much value into, has many different definitions. One of which is the following: a particularly graceful, ornamental or excellent quality. The way that is worded makes it sound as if everyone has beauty in their own way, because everyone has some sort of excellent quality, be it in intelligence or talent, there is always something unique in everyone. That possible definition makes beauty sound like a wonderful, joyous thing, but there is a darker side to beauty. It puts so much pressure on teens today to live up to their self-implemented expectations that it forces them to go to extreme and dangerous lengths to achieve them. People think it’s a mental thing that has to do with girls going anorexic, when really it’s society itself and its ridiculous image of perfection that is almost impossible to attain without becoming sickly.

“suicidal cookie!!!!” i think that really connects to the world and its depressed teens nowadays.

Although school and education are very important for success in life, kids often cause trouble. The adults always say it’s the kid’s fault for getting in the fight, but if the adults were in the same situation, they would too. Because, you see school can become a very bad place to be if you’re sensitive or caring. What makes the kids so mean??? Well, it’s pretty simple when you think about it, because in life you stick to the friend groups that are similar to yourself, and stay far away from the cliques that are unattainable. But in school, you’re trying to force everyone to “be friends” and stuffing them inside the same building where you expect them to get along. Most adults know that isn’t always possible. School would be a healthier learning environment if the teachers just backed off a little and let the kids take care of the social structure. Most teachers have forgotten what it’s like to be in say, junior high, so they just use the same disciplinary methods that their teacher used (which failed, by the way). If the kids themselves took responsibility and they had to keep each other in line and on task, then it would probably be much better of a method. Kids are kids, so they know how kids think, they know what kids care most about, and they know kids in general. So, they would know what strategies would work and which would fail miserably. Come to think of it, life is pretty much a strategy game. If you think things through the right way, then you’ll conquer. But techniques like that take practice, practice, and a hint of natural born talent. Not to mention an uncanny brilliance that unfortunately makes it hard for anyone to truly understand you.

You know, it says something about humanity that we can’t get things right the first time and that we have to keep reforming them to make it “better”. It would really be more efficient if someone *cough, cough, the prez* would just sit down, clear their mind and really THINK. Think about everything that needs to be done, and how you can do it, but make sure you think of all the worst possible scenarios before you suggest something. plus, you need to include all different types of people in your solution, not just the people living in poverty. Just because the lower-middle class can survive, it doesn’t mean they can for long. some people are living off only savings, which will eventually run out, and then what are they supposed to do? EVERYONE deserves help in this world and the world leaders should be the one’s realizing this, not ME an average person!!! But they live in luxury so even if they grew up with a hard life, their current plush lifestyle will have clouded those memories to where they need the actual people experiencing it to tell them what needs to be worked on most. I can see a lot of things being neglected because some people just don’t think they are quite as important. And maybe they’re not, but they shouldn’t be thrown in a closet to think about later because later might never come around. You have to take the problem head-on right away or you’ll put it off forever.
